Iemand anders ervaringen met BMWhat?

Ik las op andere fora veelbelovende commentaren over BMwhat. Dat is een app waarmee je kunt uitlezen, resetten en coderen. Bij een E85 of E86 heb je een OBD II kabel nodig om te coderen, bij een E89 kun je ook coderen met een OBD II Bluetooth verbinding. Daarmee kun je bij de E85/86 ook uitlezen, maar niet coderen.

De ontwikkelaar van de app heeft ook een gratis "Lite" version, die je kunt gebruiken om te kijken of je auto verbinding maakt met de app.

Ik ging vol verwachting naar mijn E85 met het volgende op zak:

- OBD II kabel (via Ebay);

- Samsung S3 mini met daarop BMWhat Lite:

- Micro USB OTG kabel (via Bol.com);

Als ik de OBD II kabel in de OBD poort van de auto steek gaat er in de stekker van de OBD II kabel wel een rode led branden. Die gaat na grofweg een minuutje weer uit. De app geeft als ik verbinding zoek helaas aan dat er "No USB device connected" is.

Ik heb het geprobeerd zowel met het contact op stand II, als met draaiende motor en zowel door verbinding te zoeken als de rode led in de OBD kabel brandde, als wanneer die uit was gegaan. Resultaat wat telkens hetzelfde: geen verbinding.

Volgens diverse fora zou BMWhat wel moeten werken op een Samsung en ook bij een (vfl) E85.

Iemand ervaringen met deze app? Zou ik iets niet goed doen bij het aansluiten, of zou het aan mijn hardware liggen? Dat laatste zal moeilijk te zeggen zijn zonder te weten waar bijvoorbeeld de OBD II kabel vandaan komt. Die komt ergens uit China (jaren geleden besteld, nooit iets mee gedaan) en ik lees op diverse fora ook dat goedkope OBD kabels niet altijd even betrouwbaar zijn. Voorlopig is dat dus mijn beste gok als oorzaak, maar heeft iemand nog meer suggesties? Of bepaalde controles die ik kan uitvoeren op de verschillende onderdelen in deze keten?

Ik heb een keer de lite versie geprobeerd via bluetooth verbinding,maar ik meen mij te herinneren dat de interface die ik had niet aan de eisen voldeed .

ik had wel verbinding met de auto maar kreeg wel een foutmelding.

ik denk dat wanneer je eern interface besteld die zij aanraden alles het wel gaat doen hoor!

Mail ze anders even je krijgt snel en adequaat antwoord van ze,erg duits!

Laatste keer dat ik mailde vroeg ik of ze dvd in motion konden coderen maar ze waren bezig met servicereset en dat was nog ffe een klusje ,maar ze wilden die codering zeker mogelijk gaan maken.

Ik zie nu dat servicereset in de lijst staat dus ze zijn goed bezig!

Ik vraag mij af of je het goede verloopstuk hebt tussen je telefoon en de OBD kabel. Je telefoon moet nu als USB-host gaan werken om te communiceren met de OBD . Standaard werkt een telefoon als USB-client. Een Android telefoon kan ook werken als USB-host mits hij dat aan de kabel kan 'zien' (ID-pin pulled to GND).

Dank voor jullie input mannen. Ik zal ze maar eens mailen, maar denk vooralsnog dat het de OBD kabel is die niet het juiste signaal teruggeeft. Ten aanzien van de OTG kabel geven ze zelf aan (http://www.ivini-tech.de/en/adapter/android/bmwhat-kabel-usb/a-1001/) dat dat degene is die je nodig hebt. Ik zal ze dat ook nog eens vragen en ook of mijn telefoon wel geschikt is.

Klinkt goed. Alleen schijnt coderen bij de E85/86 dus niet via Bleutooth te werken.

Ik heb gemaild met de boys van Ivini en kreeg inderdaad een erg snel antwoord (op zondagavond!). Helaas betekent dat voor mij ook een voorlopig einde: de Samsung mini's zijn niet OTG compatible. Ik heb dat op een simpele wijze nog even gecontroleerd: mijn mini herkent ook geen USB stick als je die er aan hangt via de OTG kabel. Had ik ook eerder kunnen bedenken natuurlijk ... Ik heb ook een Iphone, maar die is niet USB compatible. Omdat coderen bij de E85 alleen maar werkt via kabel en niet via Bluetooth kom ik dus niet verder.

Nou ja, ik zet het als aandachtspunt op de lijst voor een nieuwe telefoon.

Ja, daar dacht ik ook al aan; zal ik binnenkort ook eens naar kijken. Punt is alleen dat ik in juni toch een nieuwe telefoon "mag", misschien kan ik het nog wel tot dan ophouden

Ik zal eens kijken, ik heb wel een kkl kabel en ook een otg compatible telefoon (s3) en otg usbA stekkertje.

Al zie ik het nut er minder van in omdat je met een kkl kabel natuurlijk ook inpa etc kan draaien.

Want wat kan je coderen? Alleen dat wat ook met ncsexpert kan of veel uitgebreider zoals inpa en DIS/SSS

Wat je kunt coderen staat op hun website. Dat is behoorlijk wat voor een app. Er is denk ik nauwelijks nut op het moment dat je al met NCS expert aan het werk bent. Dan heb je hooguit nog als voordeel dat je nu niet iedere keer je computer hoeft mee te zeulen. Als je nog niet met NCS expert werkt heb je hiermee een veel gebruiksvriendelijker programma. Het is daardoor dus makkelijker instappen in de wondere wereld van het coderen ...

Ik geloof niet dat er iemand is die de app al in volle omvang heeft uitgeprobeerd hier, maar op buitenlandse fora zijn ze er positief over.

Ik zou eerst even de gratis versie downloaden; dan kun je kijken of je telefoon en OBD kabel überhaupt geschikt zijn. Dat is ook niet het geval bij iedere kabel.

Kabel werkt, had ik nog liggen, samen met HTC one x ( 3 jaar oud), echter hoopte ik op meer reacties omtrent wat er wel en niet werkt.

Lekker bezig,

ik kan ook wel googelen, en zoeken op Youtube, maar iemand heeft deze topic gestart en daarop wilde ik even inhaken...zeker wat betreft de Z4 i.c.m. BMWHat, want daarover vind ik niks op het net.

50 euro uitgeven is geen moeite, en ermee "spelen" is ook leuk. Maar informatie delen, via een forum kan ook leerzaam zijn, en daar zijn forum's toch voor.

Mocht er nog niemand deze software hebben geprobeerd, misschien dat ik het dan ga doen.

Aha. Dat het bij mij wel werkt is dan omdat ik daar geregistreerd en ingelogd ben denk ik. Het is inderdaad op veel fora zo dat je de zoekfunctie niet kunt gebruiken wanneer je niet geregistreerd en ingelogd bent.

^ ik ook, want ik meen me te herinneren dat je via de wifi verbinding bij pre fl wel kunt uitlezen, maar niet kunt programmeren. Spannend dus!
